Concealed is a beautiful face, but like nightfall itself, all is not revealed. The globes in each hand lend activity and movement to the figure, while also suggesting the eternally repeated cycles of nature, and the endlessness of nature’s rhythms. Our eye follows the flow of the drapery from top to base — a device that generates movement in the piece, countering the direction of the stride and creating dramatic visual tension. Poised on a crescent moon, the figure strides with strength and purpose, conveying the unstoppable nature of time. MacDonald creatively combines the use of texture, patina, and the classical Baroque spiral to create a truly unique work. Should you have any questions regarding this new edition, please contact the gallery at (888) 972-5543.

Available through Dawson Cole Fine Art, we announce Richard MacDonald’s newest Cirque du Soleil inspired creation – “O Flier”.

“O Flier” is the newest work to spring from the inspiration Richard MacDonald has found in the creative choreography and the artistic physicality of the extraordinary performers of Cirque du Soleil. This is a work to stir the imagination, as the finely observed anatomy underscores the performer’s humanity, her uncommon abilities place her outside the realm of our own experience, and she becomes exotic – otherworldly and mysterious.

Richard MacDonald presents the feminine form with a complexity and subtlety that adds to the high level of emotional drama inherent in his work. In “O Flier” there is a kinship that can be traced to Richard MacDonald’s renowned “Elena”. Both works contrast a sense of fragility and bird-like grace with the steely strength of a world-class athlete. Our eye follows the impossible curves of the performer’s body with wonder at the feat portrayed, but the very “uniqueness” of the posture takes our imagination far from the world of the everyday – it blurs the boundaries of humanity, and we think of an exotic, wild plumed creature.

To make this exclusive piece a part of your collection we invite you to call the gallery at 888-972-5543. “O Flier” is an edition of 25, with dimensions in bronze of 20 x 14 x 12″. First release pricing is limited.
