RICHARD MACDONALD WORKS FEATURED AT THE
OPENING GALA FOR THE ROYAL BALLET SCHOOL’S RESTORATION
IN LONDON, ENGLAND
LONDON, ENGLAND – (MARCH 20, 2009) – Works by renowned artist and sculptor, Richard
MacDonald will be featured at the Royal Gala at White Lodge on May 13, 2009 in
London England. The Royal Gala celebrates the completion of the four-year $30 million
redevelopment of The Royal Ballet Lower School at White Lodge.
The event includes performances, choreography and reminiscences drawing on the
past, present and future of The Royal Ballet School. The School’s past graduates, current
students and future stars will contribute to this unique event. Guests will also have the
opportunity to visit the recently opened White Lodge Museum and Resource Centre –
the first-ever permanent museum in the UK dedicated to ballet. The Museum reflects The
Royal Ballet School’s aspiration to develop its standing as a national focus and resource
for dance.
Among the many works to be displayed are MacDonald’s Nureyev, Heroic, based on
the legendary dancer and choreographer, Rudolph Nureyev, Three Graces, Half Life
and Joie de Femme, Heroic.
Richard MacDonald has dedicated his life to creating works of art that reaffirm all that
is best in humanity. MacDonald has achieved international distinction for his sculpture,
paintings, and drawings, and has been the recipient of innumerable national and
international awards. Celebrating realism and the expressive power of figurative
sculpture, his work harnesses the sensuous physicality of humanity’s heroic spirit. His
